Newlit - Assisting Black Writers in their craft
Welcome to Newlit - Assisting Writers in their Craft

Newlit is an editorial service for new and established writers. Once you send your script(s) to us we provide a reader service by an experienced writer or editor.

Newlit provides writers with the confidence and expertise to write quality novels, short stories and in any creative writing form the writer would like to develop. We provide these services:

  1. A full report on a writer’s work

  2. A mentoring scheme

The general report helps writers during the early stages of their writing and can assist in developing novels, short stories, plays, screenplays and other creative writing forms. If you want to develop your work further and possibly change genre from novel to short story or play, for example, this may help.

A full report is useful during the latter stages of writing. Therefore, a writer ready to work on a final draft would benefit from Newlit’s editorial services. This report provides details on the writer’s work that they may find problematic. For example, if you have written a first and/or second draft of a novel and find there are problems with setting (place), structure, character that you find difficult to resolve, this type of report could be useful.

The online mentoring scheme is useful for a writer who needs to develop discipline and would like to develop their work for a literary agent or publishers (Newlit can suggest an agent to see your work at their discretion). This mentoring scheme is most helpful to advanced writers who may wish to change genre, from novel to screenplay, for example. The aim of the reports and mentoring scheme is to develop a creative writer’s work to high quality and, possibly, provide feedback for literary agents and publishers.
